Cottonwood Beach - Soaking up the Final Drops of Summer.

Are you looking for a good beach to soak up the final drops of summer? Cottonwood Beach is a popular spot in Clark County on hot summer days. It has wide sandy beaches and easy access to the Columbia River for a variety of water activities.

  The river is shallow in this area which makes it relatively warm, and perfect for splishing and splashing. You can access the beach through historic Captain William Clark Park. The Lewis and Clark expedition camped at Cottonwood Beach for six days in the spring of 1806 - they knew a good thing when they saw it!

Cottonwood Beach tends to get a little crowded when the temperatures heat up, but generally, there’s room for everyone. Dogs are required to be on a leash, but if they’re well-behaved, no one complains. Pet owners should always remember to bring along a few doggy bags.

The forecast calls for several more weeks of sunshine and warm temperatures. If you’re looking for a good beach, with water access, you’ve found it. Soak up the final drops of summer at Cottonwood Beach in Washougal.

Looks like a great spot Debb. I have never been but your photos do look very inviting. I am happy for a cooled down couple of days to give my plants and shrubs a break so they can breathe. I hope you have a grand week.

Mary - I know it's a nice break huh? Cottonwood is a great beach for a hot summer day - but we like it best in the winter - fewer folks. ( If you know what I mean?) :)

Ann - Oh too bad, but be thankful for business - the "not so busy" isn't always a good thing. :)

Mimi - Oh sweet of you. I do normally use a tripod - in fact, my new heavy duty one just arrived today. I'm excited to play with it. It's supposed to have really nice fluid swivel - so, we'll see...? Thanks again Mimi.
