The Summit Stage Roots On the RockiesYup, there was some serious choking going on in Boston last night.  Even I was choking, choking back the tears as the Rockies rotated through their pitchers without any difference in results.  They couldn't quiet the bats of Boston.  No matter where Boston hit the ball there wasn't a Rockies guy around to make the play.  They didn't do much better offensively either, although they were facing Beckett.  No matter how big a loss, it is just a loss.  In Colorado we are hoping that history repeats itself and the team that gets spanked in game one, wins all the marbles.

Coloradoans haven't given up on their Rockies!  Everywhere I went today there was some reference to the Rockies.  Rockies jerseys on the ski slopes (yes, I skied today) and all around town, Go Rockies signs are posted everywhere.  I had to get a picture when I saw that even the local bus, the Summit Stage, is rooting on the Rockies!

GO ROCKIES!!

Wish your Rockies the best.  Here in Cleveland, we know Boston is one good team.   We were up 3-1 and ended up loosing to them.   They are a good team.  Our problem was a combination of not enough runs and letting Boston score at will.

GOOD LUCK TO YOUR ROCKIES

Thanks Tim.  I hate to say it but in the last 3 games of the Indians/Sox series I didn't think the Indians deserved to be there.  This was the first time I had seen them play this season.  Last night when the Rockies played they looked a lot like the Indians; not enough runs and letting Boston score at will.  I probably need to give the Sox a little more credit than I initially did.  Hopefully we can overcome...

Hi - This is my FIRST posting on Active Rain (YIPPEE!) and I have to tell you, I was born and raised in Winter Park Colorado; I remember when the Rockies came to town...I remember when the Stadium was built (my family has a brick or two!) and I am cheering on my "home" team from afar...Got to watch the Broncos and Avalanche bring home a national title but left before the "rocks" could get their turn. They have fans all over! Go get 'em Rockies!

Meredith, I think a different team showed up for the last 3 games.  It was embarrasing.   We have alot of newer players so we will be back again next year.   The Rockies are still doing great, winning 21 our of their last 23 games is unbelievable.   I had been hoping that the Indians made it there and then we were able to break the streak that you had.

It's always fun seeing a city rally around a team in the playoffs, and when they get to the Series, the Super Bowl, or the Finals, it really amps things up another couple of levels. Good luck to the Rockies!

OHHHHHHHHHH I so hate that word..... choking!I can't imagine you could even use that word for a team you cheer for that has won 21 out of 24 games.(and have honestly played over their heads)

They use that term in tennis often and it bugs me....couldn't the opponent have been just better that day?

Last nights game was a good one....hope there are more well played games in Colorado!

Welcome to AR Emily!  I went to the very first night game when the Rockies came to town.  It was snowed out!  The Blake Street Bombers were our best Rockies team until now - and that was a long time ago.  It's good to seem the Rocks in the race!

Tim - perhaps next year it will be the Rockies and Indians (Leave the Sox and Yanks out of it for once!)

John - The excitement for the Rockies around town does bring it up a notch.  I think there are a lot more fans than I ever realized.

BLR Guy- What do you call it when a team doesn't play up to their ability?  Just an off night?  I think the Sox are better this season than I have given them credit for but the Rockies can compete at their level - and then some.

Yes..I would call it an off night....I have been known to have an off day or two every now and then;) I don't call that choking.

I will agree the Rockies are dangerous 1-9....terrific offensive team.....but you have holes in the pitching staff.

Remember....Trevor Hoffman helped gift the Rockies into the playoffs...he was one strike away from ending it in Milwaukee and your offense rescued your season in the bottom of the 13th...otherwise,they would be on the slopes with you:)

BLR- Colorado has always had holes in the pitching staff!  I thought the gift came from Tony Gwinn Jr... maybe there have been several this year... hmmm.  Perhaps your Sox have a gift for us too.  :)

LOL..Meredith..if these were the pre-2004 Sox....I would be willing to lay money that they would give you a gift.....but they sure are a solid team with a questionable manager...so,maybe that is your gift...how can I send him to you?LOL

How ironic is it that it was Tony Gwynn to sink the Padres?!

BLR - Doesn't sound like that's a gift we want.  :)

No Meredith....I doubt it is a gift you would want...LOL

Do you guys really have alot of confidence in Josh Fogg? You might need to score a bunch of runs to win game 3

The game's in Denver.  The bats will come alive.  I don't even know who any other pitchers for the Sox are so I can say that.  Ignorance is bliss!

The Red Sox's bats are definitely alive but the series isnt over yet despite the two game deficit. Never say never!!!!! It aint over until the Fat Lady Sings :)

Last night's game was more of a game. The Rockies looked like they were a little more ready to play than in game one. Now with a 2-0 lead for the Sox, it will be fun to watch the series in Denver with the balls flying out of the park and a Sox victory.

Game 3 wasn't much fun to watch, but there's still game 4... hopefully that one will be fun for us Rockies fans without any fat ladies singing

Well Meredith..it could be a high scoring game....although Jon Lester was 4-0 this year,as the Sox were babying him a bit while he recovered from cancer and regained his strength.

I know Cook has had his problems too...so we shall see.

Meredith,   I was sorry at the end of each game.   The Rockies will be back next year.   I also hope the Indians will be back then as well.   Would love to see that series.

What's not to love in the singing fat ladies! LOL  Hopefully these young teams will bring it again next year.  Should be interesting to see how they all come back.
