When looking at a new home you need to look at the entire picture. During our next set of blogs in the Home Buyers Series, we will explore some things to look for when touring homes. Here is a checklist of exterior features to look at when you are viewing a property.

When was the home built?

Does this home fit the style of home I am looking for?

How many stories is the home?

How does the roof look at first glance?

How does the window and door trim look?

Is the siding aluminum or vinyl?

How does the brick and the chimney appear? Will it need re-pointed or repaired anytime soon?

How do the sidewalks and parking / driveway areas look?

How do the garage doors and exterior doors appear?

What condition are the decks and wooden steps if any?

How do exterior buildings and sheds look?

Any landscaping you like?

How large is the lot, can you handle the upkeep?

   -Is it large enough for your children?   

   -Will it fit your needs and wants?

Do you see any water run off issues?

What condition are the fences in?

Do you need main level access to the home, and if so is it available?

What emotions are going through your head at this point? Does it feel like a place you can call home? Are you ready to check out the inside?
