Black Jagged-Edge Saddlebag

It's easy when we head out with a camera to take photos of a listing to know we are going to come home with a photo of a kitchen, living room and a dining room.  When you go out in a field of flowers you aren't always sure what might end up in front of your camera.  My plan was to try to catch some of the Swallowtail Butterflies that I had seen in a field of yellow flowers. However they wouldn't stay long enough for me to get them in focus.  Then this guy flew into range and I had no idea what he was.  So I had to snap a few shots so my daughter, the family insect expert, could identify him.  Turns out he is a Black Jagged-Edge Saddlebug.  Another one of Mother Nature's interesting creatures.

He wasn't what I wanted to find but in the end learning to accept the unexpected can be have it's rewards too.

Jackie-thanks.  The camera does a good job.  Still working on some of the settings so for every good photo I get I also get a group of ones that need to be deleted.

Tish-I originally thought I'd be taking more photos of architectural items but at least for the summer I've been focused more on mother nature.

Richard-When I want to walk for exercise I have to remember to leave the camera at home.  Otherwise I'm stopping every 10 feet to try and take a picture.

Than-the do look as if they couldn't lift an insect this big but they do fly quickly so they obviously work well.

Mother Nature certainly has some beautiful and unexpected creatures in its mist. This one is just perfect. Love your new photo. I feel as if everytime I see it you are saying Hi! And congrats on the million point mark. Loved reading you as you have climbed the ladder.

Cindy, I do love your bug!  And yeah!  You never know what your camera is going to find for you!  I tried some bees the other day, and my camera didn't like them too much - or me.

Patricia-I've managed to catch a few bees but I'm glad for the telephoto lens so I don't have to see if they would prefer to sting me or not.

I learned on another post today that you just made the honor of 1M points on Active Rain. What an accomplishment. Please write a quick post where you go find out who has done this because it is way under twenty agents. Congrats, Cindy, and thanks for sharing your HAP and MAC expertise on AR.

Connie-thank you for stopping by.  It's been a long 4 years to get to this point and there are others who will do it much faster but I'm happy to have been consistent and plugged along to reach the group.

Cheryl-thanks.  Didn't see the need to write a post about making the 1Million Point Group.  Getting to this point has been a slow and steady process.  The group wlll grow much quicker now with some of the ways folks maximize points.  I'm more interested in the business than the points :-)
