Albuquerque City Zoo Has A New Baby Giraffe

ABQ Bio Park Has New Baby Giraffe

The ABQ Bio Park announced the Albuquerque city zoo has a new baby Giraffe!  Friday lucky zoo visitors actually witnessed the birth of the healthy 150-pound giraffe!  Mom June began showing signs of labor around 1p.m. and gave birth at 2:30 p.m.  It’s amazing but the calf was up and walking within an hour and half of being born!  Zoo medics have not gotten close enough to the baby to tell if it’s a boy or girl so Albuquerque’s new baby giraffe has not been named at this time.  June has raised 6 calves at the Albuquerque Zoo and she’s doing a great job of helping her newest baby up and letting it nurse.  If you’re in the Albuquerque area be sure to visit the ABQ Bio Park and visit Ms. June and her newest baby!

Hi Belinda -

Judy is a great Mom and gives her 7th baby tons of kisses.  You're right baby does look like it's smiling!  I'm not sure when they'll get close enough to see if we have a boy or girl???

Hi Joshua-

Thanks for the compliment.  The baby is very cute and he's the apple of his mothers eye :)  I'm in the September localism contest so Ms. June helped me out by delivering this beautiful baby.  Glad you stopped by in the Rain.

Is there any thing cuter than a baby? Any species- they're all cute. Love the mom nuzzling the new little (yet to be determined) calf. ( I think they're called that?) Thanks for sharing the great photos Q-man.

Hey Debb -

Yep you're right newbies are cute no matter what flavor they are.  You're right they are called calves.  I'm not sure when the medical staff will get close enough to know if we have a boy or girl.  Either way Albuquerque is ecstatic to have a new addition.

Have a good evening and regards from the Q

John,

These photos went straight to my heart! The giraffe is one of my favorite animals and to see this new born and its mom brings tears of joy to my eyes and love into my heart. What a gift! To see the miracle of birth and a smile on this young face is such a beautiful sight!

The photos are truly beautiful and a treasure to remember for years to come.

You made my night complete!

Hi Patrica -

So glad you enjoyed the giraffe blog.  Indeed giraffes are as beautiful as they are intriguing.  I like to watch them graze or drink having to do a balancing act with those long legs and neck.  Quiet the sight.  We wish we had been lucky enough to be there for Ms. Junes labor and delivery.  Now that's a treat that the pubic won't soon forget!  We are looking forward to knowing if we have a boy or girl and what the name will be.

Best regards from the Q
