View from 25th Floor San Remo Tower Penhouse

Central Park West runs along Central Park from west 59th street to West 110th street. The 8th Avenue subway B & C trains run along Central Park West.

Upper West Side zoning does not permit buildings to be taller than approximately 20 stories between 72nd and 96th Streets except the Art Deco Twin Tower buildings from the 1930's on Central Park West. The set back towers can go up to 30 floors.

The buildings are mostly pre war buildings. The Upper West Side's Central Park West is home to some extraordinary buildings. Landmarks of Art Deco, Beaux Arts, or Gothic Revival architecture, the great celebrity apartment buildings of Central Park West have many famous residents and the side streets are lined with trees and 19th century townhouse mansions and brownstones.

The Upper West Side is populated with some of Manhattan's most famous and desirable residential buildings, many are located on Central Park West. The Dakota, El Dorado, The San Remo Apartments,  The Oliver Cromwell, The Langham, The Kenilworth, Hotel Des Artistes, The Beresford, The Ardsley and the new post-modern 15 Central Park West feature spectacular apartments many with breathtaking stunning Central Park views.

Great post Mitchell, thanks for sharing.  When I win the lottery, I'll move there...if they'll have me!

Beautiful area Mitchell.  I grew up north of the park, but always wished we could have lived down there.

Alright, alright Mitchell....you've convinced me. I'll take the penthouse : )

It is a dream of both mine and my husband to be to own a place in NYC one day. We take an annual trip there and literally do nothing but walk around the city most of the time. Any suggestions on must see's or restaurants we have to try on our next trip?

Nancy, Thanks. If you don't face the park, you don't need to win the lottery ,-) Although some are of the buildings on CPW have tough boards. Madonna was rejected by the San Remo ,-)

Wandanna, Thank you. I appreciate your comment.

Gabe, I grew up north of the park too. I specialize in Morningside Heights right above the park which has it's own Morningside Park.

Hi Margie, You can't go wrong in a penthouse unless you're afraid of heights :)

If you haven't been to the High Line yet it is really beautiful and you can walk the whole legnth. The Meatpacking district is fun too. There is Central Park of course. Riverside Park and the 79th Basin is great. If the weather is nice there is an outdoor restaurant at The Rotunda. Check out Lower Manhattan too, the 9/11 Memorial, and all new restaurants and shops that have opened in FIDI (financial district).

I always think you're not playing fair, Mitchell.  With all NY has to offer ... and the stunning photos you can provide ... it's not a level playing field!!  As always, a great post and beautiful picture you paint of your city and its many attributes ...
