We don't have any snow here in the coastal areas of New Hampshire, but we are most assuredly in the holiday spirit!! We've got lots of things to do here, for both residents and visitors alike.
The 9th Annual Holiday Home Tour is this Sunday, December 10th, from 4-8pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to tour some beautiful homes around Portsmouth that are all decked out for the holidays. Tickets are $15 and are available at a variety of businesses around town. I've taken part in this in the past, and you sure do get to see some really gorgeous homes and decorations!
Seacoast Wind Ensemble will be putting on their annual holiday concert, "Sounds of the Season: A Musical Celebration" this Sunday, December 10th, at 4pm at the historic old South Church here in Portmouth. What beautiful music you'll get to hear from this group - absolutely wonderful to hear them!
At our beautifully restored Music Hall, you have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of holiday offerings: "A Celtic
Yuletide" with world-renowned Irish tenor Michael Londra, of "Riverdance" fame, is offered this Saturday, 12/9, at 2pm and 8pm. On December 17th, Holiday Pops with the New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra will be playing at 3pm and 7pm. The Ballet New England will be performing "An 1836 Portsmouth Nutcracker" on December 14th & 15th. These offerings are the perfect chance to go see how this Portsmouth gem looks after its fabulous restoration.....it is just a beauty to see!
For more plays and musical productions, check out the offerings at the Seacoast Repertory Theater. Everyone's favorite, "Miracle on 34th Street" is playing from December 8th through January 7th. The Seacoast Repertory Theater has turned their beautiful glass atrium lobby into a winter wonderland setting, just for Santa's visits to Portsmouth. There are various times throughout this month for photo opportunities and visits with Santa for the kids. Don't miss this special holiday fun!
Portsmouth's Pontine Theater is performing "It's a Wonderful Life" from December 15th through December 23rd. "A Christmas Carol" at The Player's Ring will be running through December 23rd.

If beautiful holiday music is what you're looking for, Boston Men's Chorus will be performing this Saturday, December 9th, at the old South Church in downtown Portsmouth. "Nowell Sing We Clear" is another holiday concert at the same church on Thursday night, December 14th. And at the Rochester Opera House in Rochester, NH, those wonderful Irish tenors will be performing, "Christmas From Dublin: The Three Irish Tenors", on December 22nd at 8pm.
For more Seacoast holiday festivities, over at the historic Wentworth By The Sea hotel, you can see Dickens come alive! "A Dickens of a Christmas" is being presented. The characters of "A Christmas Carol" will be featured,
and they'll be incorporating traditional music, dance, singing and a 3-course dinner. Audience participation is part of the fun as well! This will be offered December 17th and December 20th. The Wentworth is offering a number of fun holiday events, including a terrific New Year's Eve Celebration. It's a beautiful old hotel, one of the old resort-type grand dame hotels, and if you ever get the chance to stop by, do it. Wander around and check out the restoration and the historical pictures all around the ground level inside.
If you're here visiting family and friends over the holidays, make sure to check out the beautiful lights in downtown Portsmouth....they are so pretty at night, and if we do happen to have some snow just in time for Christmas, well, you'll find yourself in a lovely winter wonderland! Enjoy!!

With so much to do and see here in the Portsmouth and Seacoast areas of New Hampshire, it just makes my job of selling homes here in this area so much easier!
