Thrift Store Shopping in Carteret County, North Carolina
Now, I'm certainly no Fashionista, but I do love clothes. I especially love shoes and bags! According to the latest fashion mags & websites, anything old is in style this fall/winter. Not only are 40's, 50's and 60's fashion hot, but so are the 70's, 80's and 90's. Now, I loved the eighties, I drive my husband crazy with 80's music, but the fashion.... I'm not so sure about. We'll see.
With times being so tough economically, one of the best ways to shop for clothes is at thrift stores. Not only will you save a small fortune, you'll be going green (reduce, reuse, recycle), and you will most likely be helping out a charity organization as well. And.... Thrift Stores are fabulous places to find "old" clothes.
There are many great thrift stores in Carteret County. I certainly have my favorites, and most of them have a lot more to offer than just clothes. Books, kitchenware, furniture, jewelry, toys.... Just about anything you can imagine. Below is a list of Thrift Stores in Carteret County, North Carolina. I'll start with my favorites......
Caroline's Collectibles - I love Caroline's, not just because it is a fabulous store, but because proceeds go to the Carteret County Domestic Violence Program..... WONDERFUL! They always have great prices, and they often have deals. One year on halloween, every piece of black clothing (which I love) was on sale for $1 each.... Cool! Caroline's can be found at 3716 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557, or you can call them at (252) 726-3081. They also except donations.... tax deduction anyone?
St. Andrew's Epsicopal Church Thrift Shop - Being a member of the Episcopal Church, and the fact that I was confirmed at St. Andrew's.... I love this shop. You can find St. Andrew's Thrift Shop at 1107 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557 or call them at (252) 726-4747.
Carteret County Humane Shelter Thrift Shop - Having volunteered for Domestic Animal Services for years, and being the proud owner of five cats and a dog (all strays), I have a real soft spot for any organization that raises money to help animals. That's exactly what the Humane Shelter Thrift Shop does. It's a small store, but there are many treasures to be found inside. They are located at 1409 Bridges Street, Morehead City, NC 28557 and can be reached at (252) 726-1399.
Crystal Coast Habitat ReStore - Habitat ReStores raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Home builds, and we are very proud to have a location in our neck of the woods. The Crystal Coast Habitat ReStore carries many regular thrift store items and often offers appliances and home improvement items as well. The Crystal Coast Habitiat ReStore can be found at 5898 Hwy. 70, Newport, NC or call them at (252) 223-4493. If you want to help even more, stop by and sign up to be a voluteer. Since November 1988, Crystal Coast Habitat has completed over 80 Home build projects..... AWESOME! I try to help out a couple times per year, and not only does it feel good.... It's lots of fun!

How have you been? Hope all is well. I have really been busy, but hav the weekend off.
I will probably go fishing today.
I like the Thrift stores, you never know what you might be able to find (something you can't live without). LOL
I like the fact that it's for a very good cause as well.
The Habitat for Humanity here doe's not have a "Re-store" here but I have been trying to get one put in place.
Like all organizations, it's a very slow process.
Have a great day, Best. Clint Mckie
Good morning Amy. What a terrific post just full of great information. Makes me want to jump on a plane and go shopping with you.
Amy ~ Great Localism for those who just love shopping in the thrift stores!! Thrift stores are the all around best place to find the bargains and the what nots ~ My favorite kind of day, shopping for the thing -a ma - jigs!!
Amy aren't thrift stores great? I one only shopped Nordstroms, Saks, Macy's or any upscale establishment. I wasn't a snob, I just had plenty of money at the time. I have since learned that there are great clothes at thrift stores like Goodwill, and many others. There are also stores that will buy your clothes if they fit into the season land are in good shape, and they have plenty for sale. I don't shop at the upscale stores much anymore as the others are so more fun and look at all of the money you save, and in this economy?
Wow Amy. This cool weather makes me think it's time for us to grab your sister and make a day of thrift shopping. Let's go down Tish's way and grab lunch with them and shop till we drop?
