Trail Of Tears, Motorcycle Ride, September 17, 2011
I was able to make the ride although feeling a little guilty not working on a Saturday. Below are a few photos of my final destination in Waterloo Alabama. After passing by the many vendors selling trinkets and T-shirts of the ride I just wanted to interject a short note here about the purpose of the ride...A remembrance of those forced from their homes paying an ultimate price. The Trail of tears is so named because of the forced removal of Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Seminole and Chickasaw tribes of the South to Indian Territory in Oklahoma. The forced march took place from North Carolina, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi. A lesser known fact is that many non-native American's were displaced including African-Americans. All who were relocated endured, disease, exposure to the weather and starvation...many thousands died. Follow this link for more detailed historical information...Trail Of Tears.

Now here's a twist...Maureen on the right is a past client and current friend. I helped her family into a home this year. The twist: her husband took the kids to a soccer game and Maureen rode her bike in the Trail of Tears with me and another friend of hers.

If you need a knowledgeable real estate professional in Madison Alabama or Huntsville Alabama area, why don't you let me Google that for you! I also know outstanding agents in all states and Canada should you need help relocating to a new area.

Nick ~ I am so jealous I didn't get to go... Maybe someday you could come up to the mountains on your bike.
What a cool way to remember a time in our history that so many have forgotten.
Nick I remember you writing about this last year. Glad to see that you were able to make the ride again this year.
Aaahhh so you did make it! Good for you! Looks like you had a great time!
Look at all those pretty bikes! It's been a long time since I've been on one, much less driven one! Those were fun times!
June-that would be a really nice ride.
Cinnamon-what I've found is that many don't even know about it.
George-it was nice to get away for a while.
Debbie-I did and it turned out to be a nice day.
Ann-it's never too late and when it is I guess that's when it's time for a trike...not looking forward to that.
