EMILY - Yes, you really can.  We have had many clients with what I call "reverse sticker shock" - they are amazed at how affordable everything seems if they are coming from an expensive market.  How is the market in Nashville these days?

Hey Jason.  I would be happy to move to Austin.  Those houses are beautiful.  Love the first one and my family would love it and my dog could run forever in that yard. Heck, I would even root for the Cowboys (unless they were beating up the Dolphins). Got 700G's I could borrow????????

BILLY - I can get you a loan from some guys I know, but they are legbreakers, so make sure you pay up.  I guess it would be easier to root for the Cowboys this year than the Dolphins.  I bet it is a little tough being a "Dolfan" right now.  When the Cowboys have rough years, I typically pick another team to follow, like the Colts.  Have a good one, and thanks for commenting, my friend.

Ouch!! Those guys sound tough. I like my legs.  I could always go to my Uncle Joey Knuckles aka Joey Bag of Doughnuts, but he is a rough type too!!!  Yeah it is SUPER hard to be a Dolfan this year - as it has been for a while.  I had my real Uncle over the other night and he is not even watching football any more this season he said.  And this is a guy who I grew up watching Dolphins football with and he had the sign on his front door my dad gave him saying "#1 DolFan!"  We call them Duh Dolphis now. (pronounced with a slight slur)  And Ronnie Brown got hurt last week.  Can anything else go wrong with those losers????  Oh well, at least we can smile and have fun here! Take care buddy!

Jason, I've been looking at your market for a while now and am totally impressed.  Hope to get there sometime in February to check it out up close.  I'm curious about the salt water pools though.  Any particular reason for their popularity?

Jason -  A lot of square foot for your buck!  These homes are gorgeous and the greenery is to die for!! Austin is a beautiful place no doubt, housing costs there seem to be at a great price. I think I could afford to live there, oh wait I would need a job first!! I just love these posts to see other areas! Great job!

KEVIN - Let me know if you need any help if you decide to come in February.  As for the salt water pools, they are more environmentally friendly, and the water is softer than regular chlorine pools.  Here's an article I found on both the advantages and disadvantages of a salt water pool:

BRENDA - Yes, Austin offers a tremendous value.  No murders occurred in these homes.  In fact, we have a very low crime rate here.  Murders are BIG news when they happen in this area.

Just to chime in on the saltwater pools.  I recently converted my pool over to the saltwater system.  My wife says it is because I love the ocean and have been a lifelong surfer!  But reality is that it is MUCH easier to take care of, none of the harmful chemicals (don't have to worry about green hair!), you can open your eyes under water and see without any burn on the eyes (less salt then your eyes have in them!),_as Jason stated, the water is much smoother - like a mineral pool.  We LOVE it.  And no adding chlorine every week, hardener, alkalinity, etc... Just a bag of salt here and there and it does the rest. Some alkalinity every once in a long while to work the ph. Really nice system and to me, well worth the money.  And this is from a guy who grew up with a pool and cleaning it was one of my weekly chores since I was 9!!  I also worked at Pinch A Penny (pool store chain) when I was younger so I have a pretty decent grasp on the whole pool thing. So, anything I can do to work less on a pool I will take!!! I suggest it!

JASON:  There's an area nearby that the $699K house would fit beautifully into.  Of course, you'd have to spend about $2 million to buy it and then be prepared to pay around $25k- $30k in taxes!
