UPDATE: OMG, Someone stole my blog content word-for-word! What do I DO?

This is an update on my previous post please read........

What happened was I was doing a search for my name on google when I found my blogs contents plastered all over someone elses page. Worse then that she was beating me in ranking! At first I was pretty mad. Even wrote her an email with the title "stealing". The next day I gave her a call.

She had no idea. I gave her the URL over the phone and she was just as shocked as I was. I knew it was some kind of mistake. Apparently the designer of the website did it.

What is interesting is that this site dose very well in the google rankings for a template site. IF you check out the Site Map you will see there are tons and tons of internal linking.  He has a lot of reports and they are all titled to the city they are trying to rank in. Check it out and let me know what you think:

He called me to let me know there was some kind of technical mistake I did not really get what, but my content ended up on her blog somehow and her blog was erased. The one thing I did understand, and made sure, was that it would be taken down. . So I just laughed about it......

As for plagiarizing, I think its ok to rift off of other peoples ideas but to word for word copy that's lazy and lame. Also I don't think there is anything wrong with Quoting words someone else wrote as long as the proper credit is given.

What else is funny is, why would anyone copy my writing. There are soooooo many better writers to copy off of out there.

The internet can be a good thing or a bad thing...in this case it turned out good for you, you caught someone stealing your blog, in her case it is bad...she got caught and even worse, she got exposed!

It's unfortunate that these things happen.  I am glad to hear that you got it resolved.

Brian,  Doesn't this sound kind of fishy to you ?  All this technology.  We are so dependent and when it goes down we are so at its mercy.  Good luck.

Thanks for the comments.

This is the infomation age, and the internet is the wild west. All you can really do is protect your content by asking the site to take it down. Its very simular I think to what the music and movie industry is dealing with.

There is a new thought among young people that infomation is free and they do not respect  code or copyright.

Just goes to show what a great blogger you are!  You can take it as a compiment!  LOL - Amazing that it would even happen though.
