SIW Vegetables at Winterthur Farm Stand - Janice Roosevelt, Keller Williams Real Estate, DE & PA

I've long enjoyed produce from H. G. Haskell's SIW Vegetables alongside Route 100 and the Brandywine River, but the discovery of some yummy yellow tomatoes (less acid) at the Winterthur Farm Stand last weekend was a great surprise. For those New to the area, the address is below, and remember, we often have at least 3 names for the same street so don't get discouraged (in this case, Creek Rd, Route 100 are the same)

So were some yellow carrots and some long (not short and fat) beets from another grower.

It just takes good to support local agriculture and the prices are incredibly reasonable.

You can also join, for a small fee,  SIW's CSA or  Community Supported Agriculture. It works like a "Chef's Table Menu," where you get a sampling of whatever the chef is cooking, or in this case, whater the farmer is growing.

Members  receive farm fresh food once a week (Tuesday or Wednesday)  from  June to   October. You'll also get a 10% discount on anything additional you purchase.

Other  CSAs have  members work on the farm, but this one doesn't. Haskell doesn't mind if you drop off a child or too to hoe a while however :) Hmmm, makes me wish I'd had this in those days of "time out."

BTW, don't miss the GREAT PUMPKIN CARVE IN CHADDS FORD, coming up with pumpkins grown at SIW - they weigh bwetween 150 and 400 lbs!
