I Think I See a Blogging Pattern Here. Perhaps I Have ADD.

I Think I See a Blogging Pattern Here.  Perhaps I Have ADD.

Yesterday I was looking at the numbers of blog post (by month) that I've generated over the past 21 months and it appears that I have a blogging deficit every couple of months.  Looking at the numbers, I seem to go strong every couple of months whereby I generate more post than the previous month and then I take a dip in the number post.  The pattern seems to be pretty consistent.

I wonder if I have blogging ADD.  Does whipping out post at immortal speeds for 2 months tire me out?  Does it drain or strain me mentally?  I wouldn't say that this discovery deserves ongoing analysis and certain it won't contribute to my blogging paralysis because even when I slow down, I still have a hefty number of post in any given month, but it just kind of made me go:  Hmmmmmmm?

This post makes #32 for September and since I'm aware of the pattern, I'll probably intentionally (attempt to) exceed the number of August posts.  But since I've self diagnosed myself as having ADD, I'm sure I'll soon forget that goal so we'll see what the actually tally is by the end of the day on September 30.

Barbara I'd say that if you found yourself struggling with it, then it was time for a blogging break.  And thanks for reading.

I was actually wondering the same thing about being able to maintain a pace. I'd say thatch all deserve to be human.

Mark there's not getting around the human factor (unless of course ice runs in ones veins).  My guess is that I'm no different than most (or at least a vast many) of bloggers.

Thanks Lisa.  I'm glad you're taking it as seriously and I did (that is, not so seriously at all).

Kathy I can say that I can't do better than that (the best I can).  I'm not disappointed at all.

Exactly Steve.  It's the world we live in.

Hi Charita -

Sounds like you're on a September roll with 32 post and today is only the 20th!  Give yourself a pat on the back and don't burn out.

Best regards from the Q

Me thinks I have the same issue some times, lol :)!  I get distracted by shiny objects and then run out of things to write.  Then I go into cold sweats because I can't think of a blog to write...so then I just come up with something lame.  hahaha, love the post and suggested.

John it looks like I only dip so far so I'm on par for September.  And oh yeah.... there are times when I definitely felt burned out.

Hi Brenda.  Sometimes people probably wouldn't even know about our Blogging ADD if we didn't tell them.  Just think about it.....then eveyone would would think that they are the only ones that suffer from Blogging ADD.  How funny.

Thanks Virginia.  I'm always happy when you stop by.

Charita, We've settled into a pattern.  Ideally we'd like two per day Mon-Fri, then one each on Sat & Sun.  Realistically, will accept a steady 10 per week, with no more than 3 on the weekends.  We're settled in and chugging along :)

BLiz at least one per day is my goal, but it seems some days I'm on a tangent and will post 4 or 5.  I just seem to let 'er rip on those days.  Seems I haven't dipped below an average of 1 per day since April 2010 (so I guess goal achieved).

Good morning Charita. Pretty funny. Actually I don't count your numbers or mine for that matter. I do read your blogs regularly and frequently am engaged. That's what counts my friend. Have a productive day.

I've tried to stay steady but admit that there are times when I write more or less than I want to.  My plan is to write 10+ posts per week which means I run 40+ posts in any given month which is enough for me.

In comparison to you and some pf the others Bryan, I have just been trying to reach 5 to 7 post per week. Obviously I have exceeded that goal almost every month. You have been doing a fabulous job.

I think I'm fairly similar to Bliz. Once I did original 30 day challenge, I've always averaged more than 1 per day.  I have a few months where I was busy and/or away and down to 40, but most months are around 70-80 now.  That includes reblogs, too, though.  and, many of my posts are templated and quick to do.

There are only so many hours in a day. Some weeks or months, there are just not enough of those hours to keep up with it all.

Interesting! I'm going to prepare a chart for myself to track my pattern. I'm definitely not blogging as much as I want to. I need to find more time in the schedule. Unfortunately, I usually start late at  night (hey, it's 1:13 a.m. right now) and then burn out at a certain point. I don't think I've ever completed a 30-day challenge and that would be a good goal for me this year.
