Great Things to Know About Bloomfield ~ Music at the Library

Harmoney Concert Series at Prosser Library Bloomfield CT

Prosser Library in Bloomfield CT isn't just about books! There are plenty of quality music and storytelling programs that are free and open to the public.  One of the most intriguing is the Harmony Concert Series, now in its fourth year.  These are held on Friday evenings at 7:00 with these scheduled performances:

  • October 21, 2011:     Cantilena Trio, a chamber music group with clarinet, piano, and cello.
  • November 18, 2011:  Jim Harriman, storyteller performing "Characters Known Along the Way."
  • December 9, 2011:    Frank Vignola, jazz guitar virtuoso.

In addition to the Harmony Concert Series, a Classical Guitar Concert will be performed by graduate and undergraduate students of the Hartt School at the University of Hartford.  The concert will be held on November 17, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

Another music-related series at Prosser Library is The Delights of Music Videos and Conversation presented by Jack Brin, a music history enthusiast.  He will share documentaries on classical music and lead a discussion afterwards.  The series began on September 8 with Leroy Anderson and on September 22 with The Golden Age of the Piano, but continues with:

  • October 20, 2011: Mahler's First Symphone
  • October 27, 2011:  Berlioz Takes a Trip
  • December 8, 2011:  Tchaikovsky

These are just a few of the upcoming fall programs being presented at Prosser Library in Bloomfield.  Be sure to check out the entire schedule of programs and events.  Most programs don't require registration (although it is appreciated), but call the library at 860-243-9721 to be sure.

These music programs, as well as many other programs, are free and open to the public.  You don't have to be a resident of Bloomfield to participate, so this is a great regional resource.

Peggy, how can you beat listening to music at the library for FREE!   That must be a large library to be able to hold these events!   Sounds FUN!
