Written because “Hot Mike” told me to. And he told me not to think first (did he think I did that??) so this is off the cuff.
Hmm, I have three main jobs. I love my Realtor job because it keeps moving, it’s different every day and I get challenged at every turn. I don’t want things to be easy or simple, I want to stay on my toes and feel great when I get the job done. I want clients I enjoy working with and I want to learn what they want, what they need and what problems we might have getting them that. I love it when a problem crops up, as they always do, because it gives me something to fix. Sometimes it looks like there is no way, but when I work together with the lender, appraiser, inspector, my broker, the other agent, my teammates and the client, we can almost always get where we’re trying to go.
THAT is worth doing. We are so connected to our homes, helping someone to get the right one just makes me feel good.
Then I’m a blogger. I love that because sometimes I actually get paid to do THIS. Can you believe it? I get to sit on my couch with my feet on my coffee table, and someone pays me to chatter for a while. I blog for pay and I blog for me. The pay stuff is fun too, but when I blog for me I get to say whatever I want. If I’m happy and you stop by and read, you’ll be happy. If I’m sad or mad, watch out world. (I hide most of those, don’t worry.) There is such power in the written word, and I’m still just discovering it. I feel like I’m just starting to figure it all out. Writing is my favorite challenge ever.
My most important job is Mom. This one’s easy to talk about. I love it because I love my kids. There’s nothing more important than making sure they grow up knowing they are loved and cherished. I want them to feel their worth and I don’t mind if that means they’re a little spoiled. A spoiled girl will not stay with an abusive husband. (Reminder, Mike told me not to think ... but that is why I want them a little spoiled.) God trusted me with the care of these kids and it’s my job to make sure they grow up to be whoever they were meant to be. I don’t push them into being who they aren’t, I try to help them figure who they are meant to be. If I am quiet and keep my eyes open, they let me know. They are smart, loving and kind. They are beautiful, but that’s just a bonus. I am careful to always describe them with “smart” up front. They have great hearts, too – but my Chickies are SMART.
That’s me, Mom/Realtor/Blogger. Assignment done, Mike! (MWA!)
