The Do Not Call List was the best thing that could have happened to me!

I started real estate back in 1999 and joined a program called "Sweathogs" from Floyd Wickman.  It changed my life.  The program taught me if I wasn't calling, I wasn't making money.  The problem at the time is everyone could call anyone for anything.  I still kept on "dialing for dollars" and people kept on being non-receptive.

Well, my prayers were answered.  The DO NOT CALL LIST.  Finally, a reason for the herd to not pick up the phone.  Do you?

Here it is.  There are so many people who are not on the list and those are the people I work with.  I say the Do Not Call List  was the best thing that could have happened to me because since the list and those rules came out, all of my competition quit calling.  I find that the people I call are now a bit more receptive.  I am sure it is because of the lack of calls they get now and they are not so exasperated that the phone is ringing once again.

With postage being so high, mail-outs just aren't for me.  Advertising in a paper?  Well, we only do that for agent branding, not because we believe it will lead to the sale of our clients home or even any listing calls.  I love this blogging and can't wait for my first referral!  But to tell you the truth cold calling is one of my favorite parts of my day.  I find I am smiling for hours at a time, talking to a lot of nice people and a few times per hour find that potential seller I am looking for.

There are a few programs like salesgenie.com and infousa.com who sell you names and phone numbers that are already cross referenced with the Do Not Call list.  You can put in the search criteria such as people who only make $$$ and their homes are only in such and such community.  I can pick which sellers I want to work with.

Hi Anona - I see you are fairly new to AR and wanted to give you a tip in regards to your postings. Instead of including your website as www your webaddress use keyword rich anchor text. In other words use the words and include your website as the link. To illustrate this on my blog I use Sell My Home in Metrowest MA as my anchor text. If you click that link it will take you to my website. Overtime by doing it this way you will create juice for yourself for your chosen keywords in the search engines. Hope this was helpful :)

Anona-in my office we say contacts =contracts.  It's wonderful to see that you like cold calling.  I have called people when I home was listed in their neighborhood or when a home sells.  It's all a matter of asking for the business.
