That's A Nice Smile You have On Your Face; But You Still Have To Do The Dishes!!! That was a statement made to me by my wife the other evening as soon as I sat down in front of the T.V. after dinner. It dawned on me that this is my reality. The same holds true with your on-line image. A profile photo can have all the charm in the world but at the end of the day you still have to complete the task. You can post a glamor shot taking of yourself back in the 80's if you like and comment how you do all things for all people; but reality eventually comes calling on you to perform your duties.

When I browse profiles on line I see that everyone has years of experience. No where did I find "I am new to the business just having received my license and eager to get started. I don't have any experience at all but I am willing to do what ever it takes and willing to work hard."

I saw a profile of a Loan Officer the other day that said he was now retired from the business. He couldn't have been more than 29 years old based on his profile photo. Retired??? How about quit and went on to another profession???

Hanging With My Friends

The point is that you should be able to back up your experience and knowledge when called on to do so. Don't over sell yourself and under deliver. It is better to under sell your self and over deliver. We were all once new to the business and we succeeded if we are still here. We learned from doing and making mistakes along the way.

Don't be afraid to admit you are new but willing to work hard. People like a self starter who is given them an honest effort. We all like to route for the under dog to succeed and many people feel more comfortable working with someone who admits they do not know the answer but is willing to find out; then someone who seemingly knows everything.

Good points indeed.  A positive and willing attitude are truly needed when doing any sort of job no matter if you are new or seasoned.

There are clients for everyone based on their experience and yours in todays marketplace,  always have been and always will be. So any NEW REALYOR or loan officer should concentrate on what they know and create business oppurtunities accordingly.

Good morning Jim. I love this post. You are right, we all started at some point and there should be no problem as long as we are honest. Great perspective!
