Stay positive: It’s what our teachers told us when we were feeling blue. It’s what our parents have been teaching us all our lives. And although it might seem like one of those things that are “easier said than done,” the effects of positive thinking are beneficial to both your professional and personal life.
Positive thoughts lead to positive outcomes. Many people are non believers to this theory and assume that whatever happens will happen. But think about it: If you’re assuming the worst you’re going to feel crummy. If you’re assuming the best your mood will naturally be uplifted. Whether we realize it or not, the way we approach everyday situations has an effect on the outcome.
As your real estate virtual assistants, we know how stressful the life of a real estate agent can be – especially in a troubled housing market. That is why we are here to make your life and work as easy as possible. So sit back and take a deep breath. You might be feeling better already!
Interested in giving this “positive thinking” thing a try? Here are just some of the ways positive thinking can make an impact in your life!
It Reduces Stress: It’s no secret that life can be incredibly stressful. The positive thinking that typically comes with optimism is a key part of effective stress management. Having a positive outlook enables you to cope better with stressful situations, which reduces the harmful health effects of stress on your mind and body.
It Makes You Feel Good: Positive thinking produces chemicals and endorphins from the brain, which can make you feel good. All the same, when we feel negative for a long period of time our brains release an imbalance of chemicals which enforce those negative thoughts.
It Makes You Feel Good – Physically: A positive attitude can make you feel more energized and ready to go. Reducing negativity will in turn reduce the feeling of being lethargic or tired. The next time you’re “not feeling up to it” give yourself an attitude adjustment and you’ll find yourself feeling more than willing.
It Could Help you Financially: Everyone copes with stress and emotions differently. Some people eat to feel better, some people sleep, and some people spend money. This can be referred to as “comfort spending” and is sometimes used as a quick fix to feel better. If you are generally a positive thinking person, you may be more likely to be frugal with your spending habits.
It Will Help You Be Successful: As a real estate agent, you know that excitement and a positive attitude make a huge impact on getting a sale. If you are showing a house that is in not-so-great condition, you have to embellish the home’s best attributes to keep the buyer interested. By thinking positively, we are able to see a more positive solution to situations and we can influence others to enjoy being around us by simply being happy and positive. If you make the most out of something that from the outside doesn’t seem so great, your clients will respond and remember your bright spirit.
Positive thinking doesn't mean that you keep your head in the sand and ignore life's unpleasant situations. Positive thinking just means that you approach the unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. Instead of “I might close this deal” make it “I will close this deal!”
