Odd Beauty Found At Albuquerque’s Bosque

While hiking the along the banks of Rio Grande River or “Bosque” we found some odd yet very cool mushrooms.  My wife and I have no clue what the scientific names of these intriguing mushrooms are but we are for sure they are beautiful and thought they were picture worthy.  One just never knows when striking out on a hike along the Albuquerque Bosque what will be found on the path.

Hey Debb -

No fear... we always leave Mother Nature the way we find her.  They were huge and too cool not to share with the class.  Have a great day!

Hi John, you did a great job capturing those mushrooms; subscribed to your blog to learn more about life and living in Albuquerque besides the great balloon festival :)

Hi Sheila -

Yes indeed they were huge and the ones that resemble pancakes were actually red.  We had never seen anything quiet like them before.

Thanks for dropping by and you have a restful evening.

Hi Teral -

Good to see you in the Rain and thanks for subscribing to my blogs!  I have added you also.  Oh the balloon festival will soon be upon us and the sky will be filled with beautiful colors and silent drifters.

See you soon again in the Rain.

Hi Patrica -

Thanks for dropping by today.   The mushrooms were outstanding the pics just happen to turn out well.  Ya know it was a lucky day :)  You're right my wife and I enjoy working and playing together.  We seem to have a good time no matter what we're into.  Blessed in so many ways.

Great shots.  We are also seeing lots of mushrooms in Maryland and Virginia.

Hi Chris -

Yep you're right the size of these mushrooms were nuts and they were so colorful too!  I wish the lighting had been right for shots showing the details and rich colors they had.  One never knows what you will find along a Bosque trail.

Have a great evening!

Nature can create some of the most astonishing things, can't it John!  In that last photo, I can almost imagine a gnome sleeping among those stools.  I suspect the fairytale factory of my mind is working overtime:-)  Neat pictures!

HI Myrl -

Glad you dropped by this evening.  You're correct Mother Nature offers some super cool things found when and where we least expect them.  Walking along Albuquerque's Bosque does make one feel like they're strolling along a fairytale area.

Best regards from the Q

You found all of these on one hike? Wow. Beautiful!

The second one almost looks like my favorite portabello mushroom. But not being an outdoorsy person, I would never pick and eat mushrooms. Store bought only, or eat at the restaurants is when I indulge in mushrooms.

Hi Pacita -

Yes we found all these on one hike.  Amazing but true.  They were huge!  The pics just don't them justice.  We don't pick or destroy Mother Nature we leave her as we find her for others to stumble upon.  Like you we enjoy our mushrooms from the store or restaurant.

Thanks for dropping by and hope to see you soon in the Rain.

Hi John,

These are real interesting and as Toni said, a little scary. Makes you wonder how they got there? Thanks for sharing such unusual species.

Just one of the many reasons I love hiking, you never know what you will find along the way. We are planning to go out again today... See what we come back with.
