After reading another Active Rain post by Maggie Dokic I discovered I can take my Excel spreadsheets, upload them into google docs and embed them in my blog posts! What a great feature. I had to give it a try. I have to be honest, I had to click on help to figure out how it works. But after 15 minutes I have the basics figured out. A little bit of a learning curve.
I have been updating my market numbers today and decided to post the average sales price for the Silverthorne area from 2004 up to today. I will have to do a blog about it now that I can embed my excel info! What a great tip Maggie! Plan on lots of spreadsheets embedded everywhere from me!

Google docs has a graphing option too but I haven't gotten that far into checking it out.  I was so excited about being able to embed a spreadsheet I had to do that first.  This sounds like a great option for bigger documents that may not have the option of posting as a picture. Thanks Maggie for the great idea!

Lori - I think it is a great option to display statistics professionally.  If they are ongoing stats it will automatically update your post when you make the changes too.  Your posts will never be outdated.

I love Google docs for my Brownie troop management!  It lets me share management with another leader real time.  Now I can do this too!

Guess where I'm spending my next hour or so?

Thanks to both of you!

Chris & Josette - I need to spend some more time checking out all Google docs has to offer myself.  I think there's still more to it.

Hi Judy - Here's a quick overview how it works.

1. go to http://docs.google.com     2.  Click browse to find the file on your computer to upload.     3.  Click Upload File     4.  wah-lah, your spreadsheet should be there!     5.  Click publish (top right)     6.  Click publish now     7.  Check the box if you will be updating this graph and want it to automatically update to your post.     8.  Click more publishing options     9.  File format should be HTML to embed in a web page    10.  Choose what sheets     11.  What cells - you have to choose the cells.  I couldn't get All cells to work.  Enter it like this -  top left box:bottom right box  (A1:M:14)     12.  Click Generate URL     13.  Copy and paste it into your blog!

If you are still having troubles let me know and I'll do a little tutorial thing with pictures & stuff!

Apparently it does graphs too but I haven't spent any time figuring it out yet.

Wonderful tip Meredith and your prices have a nice healthy climb to them as well for current homeowners. Must be the altitude there!

Gary - And those are actual numbers for Silverthorne and for all of Summit County.  Appreciation rates have been really good here even with the tough markets across the country lately.

Great tip and lucky you, I see your market is one of the few where pricing is not on the decline.  I warmly remember those days, we have been going down in price for 3 years straight.
