5 Comments on Management Companies vs. VRBOs
Hi Rob, I have both good and bad experiences with both VRBO's and Management Companies.
I've taken 2 residents over the last few months who could not get into DIRTY rental properties self-managed by DIY landlords. The owners had No check out procedure and No cleaning resources
Wallace,
The problem I have is that I deal with vacation rentals and the rent is typically paid well in advance of their stay so the renters have a tough scenerio; do they switch condos and risk possibly not getting their rent back from the original owner or do they just clean the place up and stay there and not worry about a possible financial loss. Pretty sad when we are talking aboug luxury places that rent for $300-$600/night.
Rob,
Was just talking with a neighbor on our morning walk about if Homeaway.com would be a safe avenue to book a London flat for a week next year. It's a big consideration, as she wanted to know that if there was a problem she had some recall!
All the best, Michelle
Michelle,
I am not sure how much you keep up with HomeAway, etc, but due to VRBO issues HomeAway is tarting to move more to promoting the management companies. Soon their site will allow you to know which properties are professionally managed. I thought that was a pretty smart move as they are the biggest stakeholders in the vacation rental industry and want peoples experiences to be good.
