Coldwell Banker Gundaker garage sale benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Recently, our office held a charity garage sale benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Organized by the Chesterfield Wildwood office of Coldwell Banker Gundaker, the sale was held on a recent Saturday morning. Items offered for sale at the garage sale were donated by agents in our office or their clients. The weather didn't exactly cooperate. Although it was nice and cool, we did have a bit of rain off and on. We had steady buyer traffic until early afternoon.
Garage sale shoppers were notified about the sale using a variety of methods. A notice was posted on Craig's List, it was a daily activity in the Ellisville Patch, a nice press release was posted online at STLToday.com and we had a huge sign (built by office agents Dave and Bob... thanks guys!) in front of the office for a few days prior to the event. Our office, which is where the event was held, is located on a pretty busy street so that and the mounds of goods available which were visible from the street helped draw shoppers. The event was the culmination of a busy week of collecting donations, setting up tables, organizing and pricing the goods.
Many agents from our office pitched in and helped organize and price items as well as help shoppers with their purchases. I served as a cashier for the event so the photos below were taken by colleague Nanci Sticksel who served as our official event photographer. Thanks Nanci!
Our company, and our office in particular, feel very strongly about raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. This is a wonderful organization who helps families when they need it most..... when a child is ill and in the hospital. Jim and I personally support the effort by working in the Ronald McDonald Family Room which is the waiting area for families being served by Pediatrics and the Pediatric ICUs at Mercy Hospital St. Louis, formerly St. John's Mercy Medical Center. We work every other Thursday afternoon helping families have quiet time together, grab a quick snack, check email, take a shower or do their laundry. Families are always so grateful for the resources available to them through Ronald McDonald House.
Next month, a charity auction will be held by our entire company which is the culmination of all of our fundraising efforts for the year. Each year, our company goal is to donate $100,000 or more to RMHC. We plan to be there to continue our personal commitment to a great cause.
Jim needed a lot of coffee to start working the garage sale at 6 AM!
