Candlelight Vigil at The Harbor - September 30, 2011

7:30 - 8:30 PM - Gather at the Fountain!

Working to End Domestic Violence in Our Community!

Families are important in Rockwall. This is a combined special effort of local family violence shelters and healthy family advocates to bring awareness regarding family violence. This is an opportunity to work toward prevention and putting an end to Domestic Violence in Our Community!

There will be special speakers, music and art. Please plan on attending to remember and honor those who have lost their lives due to domestic violence. Gather at the Centre Fountain at The Harbor for a moment of silence.

There is always something fun, interesting, free or very affordable to do in Rockwall. Watch for Out & About Rockwall reminders each week, mark your calendars and enjoy living and loving Rockwall. We would like to hear about your experiences, send us your photos along with your stories. We also love videos!

Barbara: Sounds like a very well planned program to bring awareness to an issue that crosses all demographics. Tough economic times traditionally bring increased domestic violence. Increasing awareness about help available is huge! Great post!

Is domestic violence a problem in Rockwall? Or is this a vigil for the past victims from everywhere?

I have no respect for someone who is involved with domestic violence.

Larry - thank you! Posting in ActiveRain has encouraged me to be more aware of community events and issues. Enjoy you week!

Clint - I don't think that domestic violence happens because of the location, unless perhaps in a high crime area. Domestic violence can happen in any city and in any neighborhood. Likely the general public is not much aware of it unless it happens to someone they know. Programs such as this will promote awareness and prevention. Have a great day!

Rob - thanks for stopping by this morning. This is indeed a great cause and hopefully will result in better public awareness of a problem that can be found in any city or neighborhood.
