Real Estate Broker/Owner with eXp Commercial, Referral Divison RRE-BRO-LIC-75443

This is the last weekend for the 2011 NY Renaissance Faire, located in Sterling Forest in Tuxedo Park, NY, a mere 15 minute drive from Monroe, NY

The faire will be held this Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 7pm.  Tickets can be purchased online (at the link below), and they cost $20 for an adult (13 and over), and $10 for a child (5-12 years).

knightSo what will you find at the Renaissance Faire?  Old-fashioned fun!

The NY Renaissance Faire has 11 main stages that provide continuous entertainment with jesters, jugglers, magicians and minstrels. You can see knife throwing at the Sherwood Forest stage, an archery tournament at Roselawn Tournament Field, glass blowing demonstrations, storytelling, dancing and more.

You might see a joust between knights on charging steeds or play games of skill and enjoy man-powered rides.

The Faire includes a crafts marketplace and demonstrations of long-ago crafting traditions.

No faire (or fair either) would be complete without food and beverages!  Available food includes turkey legs, sausages and steak-on-a stake, boar, chicken, desserts and much more.  Beverages include sweet mead, fine ales and soft drinks.

The Faire is perfect for children of ALL ages!!!!!

Kat - Great post on a great event. I used to go to this festival for many years. Love the Sterling Forest area and the festival. You've reminded me of how much I used to enjoy going there. Great job and congrats on the feature...

Cheryl - Thanks for commenting on the time frame concept!  I appreciate it.

Richie - Life certainly can be a lot of fun!  As for turkey legs, I seem to recall those were also popular at Disney.  Nothing beats food that doesn't require utensils!

Mike - These fairs always make the time period seem so much fun - wonder what it was REALLY like to live then.

Didi - Huzzah, steins of beer and turkey legs!!  You have got to come east - I bet you know how to have fun!

Colleen - Actually, rainy cloudy skies have been forecast for the next forever, but here's hoping the forecasters are wrong (which would be a shock!)  Thanks for stopping by!

Jeffrey - Thanks for stopping by!  Hartsdale would be about an hour ride, but I guess South Brevard would be a bit of a trek!

Robert - The area really is pretty and is perfect for this kind of fair.  I think the grounds are somewhere around 60+ acres of forest and lakes.

Carol - A quick plane ride!!  Maybe next summer.  Thanks for commenting.

Kat ~ This is one of the most favorite events we attended when we lived in Monroe, New York. We loved to see the "Live" Chess Game, the juggler, the attire of all the people who worked at the Faire and all the different booths to shop from!!

Funny. We were just watching the Princess Bride and I thought about this thing. They've been doing it for quite a long time.

Hi Kat, congrats on the feature! Great localism post. I used to go to a huge renaisssance faire in Las Cruces, NM when I lived in El Paso...loved it. It's always a fun time watching the entertainment as well as perusing all the great artisan booths.

Kat, that looks like so much fun.  I've always thought about attending one of those, but so far it hasn't happened.  One day.  Have a great Friday!

Cindy - Thanks!  I wasn't aware there was one in Las Cruces; I have family in NM so perhaps someday will get to check that one out as well!

Loreena - Wow, that would have been a full day!  Driving all day and jousting with knights... :-)

Jacque & Larry -  Thanks for stopping by!  People watching at those events (with all the worker and attendee costumes) would be great.

Mike - You have a great Friday as well!

Hi Kat, Renaissance Fairs and similar events always enjoy a great popularity.  It gets people out, maybe even dress up, see something they normally don't see and it's just great fun.  Hope you have time to enjoy it as well.

I would ave to go 60 minutes in the country but this idea is staying on my mind. GoDaddy had some great prices yesterday for a couple of the 365 things to do URL sites I wanted here.
