KVUE News has learned that Austin police are looking into accusations from local real estate agents all alleging a disturbing experience with an unknown man posing as a client.

April 21, 2011 was the last known incident of a man pretending to be a condo buyer.  Real estate workers believe he intended to sexually assault female agents.

This is scray.  If you have to go out on your own make sure you have someone checking in with you every 10 mins to make sure everything is good or take someone with you.

Profit from my two decades of experience

Thanks for posting this,it's a very good reminder that we can't let our guards down when showing properties, especially people we don't know.

Carolyn - This is EXACTLY why I don't meet strangers at properties.

Catherine - It is very disturbing because now people are targeting specific industries. This itself makes me very weary about adding a photo to my website and blogs.

Adrian - It has gotten to a point whereas we can let our guards down with anyone and anywhere. This could be actions and crimes easily committed by someone we know and see daily.

Michelle - We shouldn't meet anyone outside of the office or a public place. The mind and heart of man is very decietful. People scour the internet, review blogs, etc to select their next target.

I truly believe that all agents should be a part of a team and all open house, showings, meetings, etc should be in a team of two. Even if it means having your assist present. I've always suggested to the agents I work with to

  1. Take a photo of the car and tags.
  2. Discretely photo the buyers/sellers once out of the car.
  3. Call your assistant to check upon arrival with the buyer name, time of arrival, and email #1 and #2.
  4. Check in 15 minutes after arrival
  5. Check in when leaving. Set all appointments with a start and end time.
