This post is inspired by the recent changes on Facebook. I heard a lot of grumbling about it and it got me thinking was it the fact that the change occurred or that Facebook didn’t prepare anyone for it to happen?
Change is typically better handled when people have a chance to digest what’s going to happen. In real estate our world changes daily, we could have our day perfectly mapped out and then get a call from someone to go show a house…BAM change of plans. I don’t mind surprises nor do I typically stress over change but, for those who can’t handle a surprise birthday song at a restaurant it can be very stressful.
We can learn from Facebook that making changes with no explanation doesn’t go over very well. It leaves consumers feelings lost and irritated in the business world and if its personal change it can leave those close to you feeling the same. I like change because often times it means progress however, unlike Facebook I try to leave the blindsiding out.
