Localism Blog Titles, What is so important about them?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Brooks Prime Properties Wichita Falls Texas

We have all been encouraged to write more Localism for the good of the community and the good for us as individuals! Our marketing is based a great deal about reaching out to the public that is looking for something we are offering. The question is, "how will they find us?" and "where will they find us?" key word optimization

Are the titles of our blogs important? You bet they are! Your title can pretty much guarantee whether you (your post) will or will not be found by google and other search engines. And even MORE IMPORTANTLY...whether it will be found by a potential Client.

How do we perfect our titles?

Think like the consumer. Place yourself in the position of the masses. It's easy. Here's an example. You are about to write a post about a local restaurant. The name of the restaurant is Eggs and More! Yes, I'm making this up but it should work. You could title your post a really clever title with humor and creativity like:  Hungry For Breakfast? Stop at Eggs and More!
It's a good marketing title right? Well, not for the Internet!!

It won't be found.

Why? Because if you are a consumer and you are looking for the hours of a business or the copy of a menu or anything else to do with a local business, you will type in the name of the business first. Again, think like the consumer. If you personally were looking for this information you would type in "Eggs and More" and see what comes up. You would not type in, "I'm hungry for breakfast". (giggle)

The major trick here is to "think like the consumer" and think like google.

Google will take your first key word phrase in your title and then compare it to your key words in the article to place it. You are basically telling google just where to put it! Ah-ha...be nice!

key word optimizationA recent Localism Post of mine was about "Sam's Boat" in Conroe. Here is the shot from page 1 of google with the key search of Sam's Boat Conroe. It's number 9 right now and with age it should rise. Go check your localism posts and then google the name of the business or main content of your post as a consumer.

Are you there yet?

QUICK MOMENT HERE. Now, my title for this post is easily searchable even here on ActiveRain. If you need answers you would type in "Blog Titles" in our search. Guess what will come up.

Keep writing and keep practicing.

Krystal, thank you. It really does make a difference. I can see many where I goofed up big time!

Jill, sure does. We want them to stick on google for a nice long time. This is how we get found!

Diane, it must have been the font then! Wow, I learn something every day here. Sometimes the hard way.

Linda, I'm so glad it's readable now! Thanks for coming back by! Always good to see your pretty face!

Teral, you are NOT the only one that forgets too. A lot of times I write these posts because I discover I could be doing something much, much better!

Of all of the things I've had the hardest time about localism, this has been it.  I just did one about the local cemetery.  There were SO many titles that I wanted to use.  It was AWFUL for me to have to just say "Evergreen Cemetery" . . . REALLY stifles my creative juices.  Great post, missy . . .

Deb, that's great advice. You know, I've been mapping out my housing report strategy which includes incorporating Localism. I've been throwing titles onto my white board.... this helps, thanks!  Suggested.  I guess you're feeling better??? I've been down for a couple weeks.  Just hanging on by a thread and passing out in bed by 8 usually. I took today off but still tired.

Hi Deb, thanks for the reminder.  Figuring out what title to use is a challenge.  Sometimes it seems like the catchy titles get more comments.  Yet, Google is looking for relevant titles first.   So many things to consider.

What a great post and I thought it was actually more about the content, but clearly you proved me wrong. On the 1st page of Google so quickly says a lot.
