I heard a really interesting human-interest story on the radio today about how the city council in Toronto passed a new ordinance on Wednesday.
As reported by CTV News, puppies and kittens sold in Toronto pet stores must come from shelters, humane societies or rescue groups. The Toronto City Council voted unanimously to institute the changes: the goal being to keep stores from selling animals from puppy or kitten mills.
So, in keeping with this new city ordinance, I thought that now might be a good time to again share information about our very own animal shelter/humane society in Escondido, California.
The Escondido Humane Society has numerous donation and support opportunities including a large number of pets available for adoption. Based on our existing economic conditions, a number of folks throughout Escondido have had to move and have been forced to give up their pets for adoption. What better time than the present would there be to welcome a new dog or cat to your home? Additionally, adoption fees have been reduced at the Escondido Humane Society now through October 31, 2011.
