Some of you may remember the classic TV Game Show Beat the Clock. Well the race against the clock started last night for some film-making hopefuls eager to make their mark on the local film-making community and its fans!

The 36-hour Final Cut Film Festival started Friday morning at nine o'clock. The objective of the game is to produce an 8 minute film of equality in a 36 hour period.

One of the contest entrants, director Anthony Morin says   "The hardest thing about this is getting everything into this in eight minutes and making it make sense," he said. "It's hard to explain a story in eight minutes…"

There 25 film-making teams  are competing to win for the sheer satisfaction of it.  No prize money is offered.  The films will be judged after the deadline of 9pm Saturday.
