As many of my regular readers know Lincoln New Hampshire is home to the Loon mountain Ski Resort, the nationally designated Kancamagus scenic highway, The Flume Gorge State park...and some glorious river frontage and hiking trails. Here are a few sights from today's ride around town. The First Stop was to check out the new trails being added to the South Mountain side of the Loon Ski Resort.
The top of the mountain was completely obscured with fog today, but in the dim light the colors pop nicely.
This shot came from the parking area next to the children ski center at the Governors Lodge on the main slopes.
Lincolnwoods Ranger station and cable bridge provides a start to many hikers trip...and one of my favorite spots for a cross country ski when the white stuff begins to fall (White Mountain national forest land on rte 112).
Otter Rocks - rest stop along the Kancamagus highway...an easy walk for anyone looking for a waterfall shot.
Further up the Kanc...Camera out the sunroof, the trees are starting to take on a consistent glow on rte 112.
Still on rte 112 - another paved rest stop no sweet to get this shot just step out of the car and enjoy the view.
Flume Gorge - New Hampshire State Park...a small entrance fee but well worth the short hike.
The Fog settled back in, but the trip through the Franconia Notch state park was pretty nice none the less.
This last shot illustrates the change over...the leaves closest to the building have been able to stay a bit warmer, while the tops and exposed areas have begun to change color rapidly. My Advice, if you are going to enjoy this years foliage...it's time to make a trip very soon.
