Parade in Katy Texas

Prior to the actual Katy Rice Festival, a Rice Festival Parade will feature bands, floats, classic cars, local schools, youth organizations, local churches and big crowds of people while it goes through several blocks of Old Katy.

WHAT: Katy Rice Festival Parade in old Katy Texas

WHEN: Saturday October 1, 2011 with Parade lineup at 9:00 A.M. Parade will start at 10:00 A.M.

WHERE: The Parade will head West on Fifth Street from East Street, then go South on Avenue A then West on Second Avenue with it ending at 10 TH Street

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Go to the Rice festival web site or call 281-391-5289 or E-mail info@katychamber.com

I understand this Parade is a fun event to participate in or to go and watch. The 31 ST Annual Rice Harvest Festival will be held the following weekend and I will write a detailed blog about this huge local and important event. Applications to participate in the Parade are open until Thursday September 29, 2011.

How cool, a Rice Festival in Katy!  Do they serve all types of rice and do different recipes?  And a parade to boot :)!  As said above, if you get a chance to go make sure and share some pictures with us :)!

Thank you to all who commented on this blog. Since there are some questions I will write a comment on my blog. I usually don't do this as I like to write comments on blogs written by folks who are nice enough to write comments on my blog.

This is just the Parade part of the Katy Rice Harvest Festival. My blog for Saturday will cover the actual festival. I have clients I am taking out on Saturday morning so I am unsure if I can get any pictures. I want to go so I could video part of the parade. I will wait to see. My clients are very nice folks who have a preapproval and want to buy a home. Rare combination these days. The festival does have a major cooking contest and I know last year it included rice as one area of cooking competition. They expect over 40 K people to attend the actual festival and that is a huge for the Katy area.

Bob -- Rice festival? That's a new one on me. However, looks like it's a BIG event in Katy. Would love to hear more about it.
