When Active Rain Friends Visit My City

I absolutely love it when Active Rain friends phone up to say they're coming to town. Case in point was last night. I was thrilled to join Maureen Bray, Stager Extraordinaire and Owner of Room Solutions Home Staging in Portland, Oregon, and Jackson West, Uber-talented Property Stylist and Instructor for CCSP - Canadian Certified Staging Professionals.

The last time I saw these two colleagues was at the RESA (Real Estate Staging Association) Conference, and there was just so much going on that we really didn't have a chance to get a good chat in. Well, we remedied all that last night, when we met after Jackson's staging class for drinks and dinner. It was a gorgeous evening, with hot, humid weather. All the outdoor terraces were jam packed with people, so we opted to sit inside a fabulous restaurant in Yaletown called Brix, which Jackson recommended and didn't disappoint. What did we talk about first? The restaurant's decor, of course - come on, we're designers! The restaurant has a great vibe, with brick walls and gorgeous chandeliers dripping from the ceiling.

It's great to comment and chat on Active Rain, but this can be somewhat limiting. When you finally get to meet your online friends in person, it's as if the flood gates open and you can't talk fast enough, exchanging ideas, trading stories, extolling the joys of being a part of a the wonderful, online community called Active Rain, and just generally enjoying each others company.

Thanks, Maureen and Jackson, for a great evening, and hurry back to Vancouver and let's do this again. Right now, who's coming to Vancouver next?!!!

Laura - Yes, I believe the world tipped a little over to the west! Hope we didn't break any of your accessories with the tilt... Oh hey, and don't forget - if ever you're in Vancouver...

Kathy B - Perhaps a Cosmo or two was ingested. Good food, good wine and good friends - it's a powerful thing!

Anna - Oh yes, a Lasso (is that one 'o' or two?)... Yee haw!

Roger - I know you've met your fair share of Rainers in person - it's such a fun experience. Yes, we definitely have to meet Roger, it's written in the stars.

Ginger - We're really not that far away. It would be lovely to have you come visit.

Kathy S. - Oh, it will happen, and when it does, you'll love it!

Hi Sally!! What fun to see you again and catch up on your staging projects, your recent trip to Paris, and of course as you mentioned -- all things related to staging and design. I love the restaurant that Jackson recommended -- he knows all the good places, that's for sure :-) Vancouver is such a cosmopolitan city with gorgeous neighborhoods. It sure is fun to meet our AR friends whenever we can!!

Maureen - Ah, the guest of honour! It was so delightful to catch up with you and Jackson. Maureen, I could listen to your stories all day - you're a great raconteur! I'm glad you had some nice weather for your stay. Sounds like the staging went amazingly well. What a wonderful reaction from the homeowner - that makes it all worth while, doesn't it? I hope it won't be too long before your next visit.
