I can highly recommend Windows 7 speech recognition
As always, everyone's favorite blogger, Russel Ray, has given us some great information on speech recognition for our computer. I can't wait to try this!!!

I can highly recommend
Windows 7 speech recognitionAs longtime readers know, I have been using voice recognition software for about eight years, specifically Dragon Naturally Speaking.
I have two Windows 7 computers here in the office. My main computer has had Dragon Naturally Speaking on it since I bought the computer. Earlier this morning I tried to install Dragon Naturally Speaking on my other computer, so that other people could use it. Would not work.
So I thought to myself, "Self, why don't you see how the Windows 7 speech recognition software works?" Self responded, "Hey, good idea."
So here I sit at my secondary computer dictating this little message to let you know that the Windows 7 speech recognition software is quite awesome. It did not take long to set it up, especially since it comes as a part of Windows 7. The tutorial was quick and easy, and I went straight to work. My only recommendation is to make sure that you get a good microphone. I have a cheap microphone that cost $9.95 and sits on the desk. It's a piece of garbage. The one that came with Dragon Naturally Speaking, which is the one that I'm using to dictate this, is superb. It's a noise self-canceling head microphone so that I can listen to The Beatles in the background. Longtime readers know that that is important to me.
I know I've said before, and I'll say it again, if you're not using voice recognition software yet, you should be. Your productivity will increase manifold, especially for simple tasks like dictating your ActiveRain blog posts.
