Here are a few tips on what to look for when buying or renting a home in La Quinta, California

1. The view- mountain, golf course, and lake views are preferred

2. Quiet area - we value serenity and quiet. stay away from roads, barking dogs, noisy equipment

3. Great rooms are preferred - most people here do not use formal dining rooms

4. BBQ and pool with large patio - we like our outdoors area

5. 2 car garage plus golf cart garage or 3 car garage - most people have a golf cart even if they do not live on a golf course. We can get a permit and drive carts throughout the city on approved routes.

6. Gated community - provides added security and continuity throughout the neighborhood

7. Lots of tile and stone on the floors due to dust that accumulates

8. Stay away from I-10 corridor as the wind is much stronger there

9. Stay away from power lines - lines are not buried in most areas so it is important to watch for this

10. At least 2.5 baths - people like their own bathroom and they like showers more than tubs here

11. Multiple ac units to zone cool and well maintained and serviced to save energy costs

A good shopping list for any discretionary area...the things that make a buyer choose a specific retreat property will be very different from a primary residence choice.
