  1. Leaving your garage door open or unlocked
  2. Hiding spare keys
  3. Storing ladders outdoors or in unlocked sheds
  4. Relying on silent alarm systems
  5. Letting landscaping get overgrown
  6. Keeping your house in the dark
  7. Not securing sliding doors
  8. Relying on your dog to scare away burglars
  9. Leaving "goody" boxes by the curb (tear down the new TV box)
  10. Posting vacation photos on Facebook

Number 10 is my favorite! I can't believe people actually post on Facebook all of their vacation details, pictures during the vacation and when they are coming home!!!

I don't understand why people don't use timers to light up their house while they're out of town. Timers are so cheap and easy to use! I agree with you about #10 also - even if you have your privacy settings set, it is such a bad idea to advertise when you'll be out of town and how long you'll be gone. I always wait until we return and post information or photos from the trip saying "just got back from _____". That way the bad guys don't get confused that I'm still out of town!

I have heard of all of them except #10, and you are correct.  It would be crazy to post that date and time when you are returning. What were they thinking?
