ActiveRain - 1Million Point Club Milestone
This is an amazing accomplishment. Obviously I need to go back and review everything Donna has been doing RIGHT, because her numbers and sales success she attributes to ActiveRain are staggering! Especially as she made a move to a new area to practice in (Austin, TX) as well.
I have lots of posts, but only 3 features. She has fewer posts and 62 features plus the transactions!
CLOSED $6,308,720 in real estate volume directly related to my activities on ActiveRain.
27 closed transactions, about 5 1/2 a year.
$189,261.60 in direct income. Congratulations! I hope to join your club!
ActiveRain has been a huge part of my business and life for the past 5 years. Over the weekend, I hit a huge milestone. I became the 18th person to hit 1,000,000 points. I should have hit a million several months ago, but being pregnant last year, and then having the baby this year, I slacked in my blogging, but excuses aside, I came back at full steam last month.
It's often asked what ActiveRain points mean, and you'll receive several different responses. Russell Ray recently posted what points meant to him, and he did a break down, and I thought that was a great way to look at things. He said his points were worth about 8 cents each. Mine are a little more than that.
For nearly 3 years, I posted about Dallas area stuff. I moved to Austin full time in April 2009, and it wasn't until then that I started posting about Austin area stuff. Because of my move, I have not had the privilege of my local posts becoming older and watching the Google juice work behind the scenes. I've had to continuously post new content about the area to continuously get the search engines to see my content as useful since they used to see me posting Dallas content. With the change of direction, I saw a slower rise to the top, if that makes sense.
ActiveRain boils down to these numbers for me:
To date, not including buyers and sellers I'm currently working with, I've CLOSED $6,308,720 in real estate volume directly related to my activities on ActiveRain. I have had 27 closed transactions, about 5 1/2 a year. This equates to approximately $189,261.60 in direct income.
I've posted a mere 1317 blog posts. Of the other 17 people in the 1M club, all but 4 have posted over 2000 posts, and three of those four are well into the 1900's, with one at 1890 posts. I mention this because some people think it's the pure volume of posts that get you to this point, but it's not. It's about quality, and with quality comes other people wanting to post comments on your posts which helps take things to another level.
Now for the money breakdown, because I always tell people it's not about the amount of points you have earned, but it's about the amount of money you've been able to put in your pockets from your efforts of those points. With 1317 posts, that's $143.71 a post. With 62 featured posts, that's $3052.61 a feature. With 1,000,000 points, that's $0.19 a point.
Deb Brooks asked a couple of days ago if anyone would sell their profile, points, and position here on ActiveRain. I put a $1M price tag on my profile. Why? Because if I can make almost $200k in fives years for posts that haven't fully matured, my volume should grow exponentially from here, and the person who buyers my profile would gain all those rewards, and in a quicker period of time. To reap the rewards of my efforts, I asked for $1M. That's approximately $1 a point, and it's well worth it!And since I'm all about "Full Disclosure", wanna know how I learned about ActiveRain? In 2004, I joined a little company called HouseValues, later changing their name to MarketLeader. They had a "Master Mind Forum" where you could post Best Practices and other stuff. It became a tight community and we all shared a lot of things. In 2006, many people were leaving for greener pastures. Jay Thompson found ActiveRain (I'm not sure how) and the news spread. I became member #471 out of the current 214,063. For those of you who know me, you know how I feel about MarketLeader as a company, but without going there, I admit that if I had not ventured into their business all those years ago, I don't know when I would have found ActiveRain and how different my business would be today! So, in a round-about way, "Thank you for screwing up, HouseValues! You made me see the light was much better and brighter (and less expensive) on the outside!"
