The bad news is I got to spend 6 hours in the emergency room Friday night/Saturday morning. The good news is that the emergency room was located at the Kennestone Hospital in Kennesaw Georgia. This is the second time in 5 months I have been given the chance to meet some wonderful and caring people in this hospital. Oh, and I am fine. Just a kidney stone the size of Nebraska.
I was amazed that the ER was full when I walked in at midnight. I was unable to get a room as they were full, so I ended up on a gurney in the hallway. Sounds bad, but I really got to see what goes on in the hospital at that time of night.
The nurses and Doctors on duty that evening were terrific. There was a terrible car accident nearby and the injured were brought to a room about 10 feet away from me. Unlike TV shows where the Doctors yell at anyone who will listen and Nurses run from room to room, this case was one where the Doctor and Nurses were all awaiting the ambulance when it came in. They were all calm and moved with great efficiency. No yelling or running, just efficient care.
The next time I try to pass a boulder I know I am going to Kennestone, (Great name for this type ailment!) Thanks again to all who serve at this hospital. You are all greatly appreciated!
