A great analogy and it is important for sellers to understand what is needed to make sure their home is the one the buyer wants to purchase.
What a wonderfully written post! l love the shopping analogy. What a delight to read! Would make a great marketing material for a listing packet!
First impressions are very important. A buyer will always look more closely at a home that is ready for sale rather then one that is not.
Great featured blog.
It's true! You see those great put-together outfits on the mannequin and think "I want that!" The same holds true for a house!
Joy, if sellers didn't understand the purpose of staging a home, they do now. You've used a connection sellers can relate to. Very nicely done.
Joy, I love your interesting comparison! And yes, we are about to reach SHOPPING DAY of the year...so GO SHOPPING!
Congrats on the future!
Yep, i agree 100%! there are shoppers who don't mind Ross or wait for huge sales in more high end stores, yet there are shoppers who will visit only Newman Marcus. SameO with house-shoppers:)
Check this out:
''According to Bundle.com, many savvy fashionistas prefer to pick up designer-inspired items at lower-priced retailers like H&M and Zara, while others will spend up to $10,000 for an Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress. In fact, luxury retailers have struggled little compared to less expensive retailers because the wealthiest Americans have been largely unaffected by higher food and gas prices''
Same with housing, don't you agree?
Congratulations on a well deserved featured post. I will share it with sellers.
Good morning Joy - great analogy. Stores don't just throw their wares in random piles and hope for the best, neither should homeowners.
Joy, this is a great example where merchandising works and can apply to the real estate industry.
Thank you Tammie, Kevin & Praful for your feedback last night - I had already checked out for the night with Hurricane Sandy on our backs. . . But it looks like we all agree- staging makes a home more desireable!
Thank you Jack, Gita and Michael, I hope you are both able to relate and use the analogy! :)
I appreciate appreciate your including the link and adding that to my post Inna. I do see that "Well Merchanized" homes that appear to be for the "wealthy" even if in a lower price range do better than homes that thrown together (thanks Wayne and Jean! #24) will ever fare!
I like your analogy too Valerie - thank you!
Awww .. this is an Awesome Catchy Title!!! Loving the analogy! pippa
Thanks Pippa - I guess you must like shopping like I do too! :)
