NW Austin ~ Westwood High School Makes National List ~ 2011

WestwoodWestwood High School in NW Austin ranked #47 according to Newsweek who released a list of the top 500 high schools the end of June 2011.  The good news is several Central Texas Schools made their list!

Congratulations Westwood!

This school ranking is one of the reasons buyers relocating to Austin seek homes in Canyon Creek.  Students residing in Canyon Creek attend the sought after Westwood High School.

Austin (KXAN) - Newsweek released a list of the top 500 high schools and several Central Texas schools made the list.

LBJ's Liberal Arts and Science Academy was ranked no. 21 on the list, the top ranked school in Central Texas.

The two other schools to rank in the top 100 was Westwood High School ranked no. 47 and Westlake High School ranked no. 72.

Westwood is in the Round Rock Independent School District and Westlake is in the Eanes Independent School District.

Harmony Science Academy in Pflugerville ranked no. 144.  Dripping Springs High School also made the list, ranked at no. 361.  Two other schools made the list: LC Anderson High School and Lake Travis High School.

Overall Texas schools had 38 schools listed and two Dallas-area magnet schools were the top two ranked schools: School of Science and Engineering and the School for the Talented and Gifted.

The rankings were based on a formula that weighed graduation rates, college matriculation rates, AP testing and courses offered and average SAT/ACT scores.

Wow Dorie - that is really something to brag about - West Wood being ranked 47 by Newsweek Congratulations and schools are one of the biggest factors for parents when they are decided where to live. Yet another reason to live in Austin, Texas!
