We drove up to Prescott, AZ Saturday to attend the Arizona Equifest, sponsored by Olsen's Grain, a chain of feed stores serving most of Northern Arizona. This was the ninth annual event, this year delayed from the usual date in June due to the threat of equine herpes virus contagion earlier in the year.
It was an overwhelming success in October. We watched horse trailer races, tractor pulls, team roping, a 3-day eventing demonstration and more. Several animal rescue groups were there and we realized how much we miss greyhounds in our lives.
Clinicians were sharing knowledge on everything from animal nutrition to perfecting a horse's sidepass. There were vendors for everything equine or canine, petting zoos, and a tack swap.
An exhibition of antique tools and machinery included a rope making machine, and a distant ancestor of my washing machine. The antique tractors were amazing and hearing them run reminded me of this video.
