Arizona Equifest

We drove up to Prescott, AZ Saturday to attend the Arizona Equifest, sponsored by Olsen's Grain, a chain of feed stores serving most of Northern Arizona.  This was the ninth annual event, this year delayed from the usual date in June due to the threat of equine herpes virus contagion earlier in the year.

It was an overwhelming success in October.  We watched horse trailer races, tractor pulls, team roping, a 3-day eventing demonstration and more.  Several animal rescue groups were there and we realized how much we miss greyhounds in our lives.

Clinicians were sharing knowledge on everything from animal nutrition to perfecting a horse's sidepass.  There were vendors for everything equine or canine, petting zoos, and a tack swap.

An exhibition of antique tools and machinery included a rope making machine, and a distant ancestor of my washing machine.  The antique tractors were amazing and hearing them run reminded me of this video.

Hi Marge - That sounds like a lot of the varied things that go on during the summer all packed into one place. It must have been a fun event. And I have to admit I never saw a tractor play lead in a bluegrass band before - nice!

Michelle, It was fun.  Nostalgic, like county fairs used to be.

Dick, It was a great family event, lost of activity and fun and I loved the old tractors.  Maybe next year the Prescott or Flagstaff tractor guys will start a tractor band.

Marge, My niece owns a horse and the love for that animal, is wonderful.  This event sounds like a good day to learn more about this animal and it's care.  So nice, for the community.

Marge, I'm sure there was a great turnout for the 9th annual Arizona equifest....a lot to take in from races, animal nutrition, antique tools....This event sounds like it was a great day for the entire family to have some fun.
