What is Home

A roof keeps out the storms. Four walls to block the wind. Floors to build a strong foundation. Yes, but your home is much more than that. It is the laughter of children, the caring of your mother, the strength of your father. The warmth of family love, light from joyful eyes, kindness, loyalty, comradeship. Home is the first school and first church for young ones, It is where they learn what is right and wrong, what is good and what is kind. Where they reside to for comfort when they are hurt or sick.Where the joy is shared and sorrow  is eased. Where mothers and fathers are respected and adored. Where children are actually wanted. Where the simplest kind of food is good enough for the kings, just because it is earned. Where your money is not as important as loving-kindness. Where even a teakettle sings from happiness.

That is home. God bless it.

Mike that picture locks great and as Damion said above that is a great definition of a home. Not only that it also shows how to make a house and as well.

Beautiful post.  Wouldn't it be awesome if it were true for everyone in the world?

So well said. Bears repeating and reblogged. We have to remember the most important reasons why people buy a house -- they want to build a home.

Thanks for the beautiful thoughts!

Mike,

Your text is eloquent, and the picture is fantastic.

That is the kind of home where I was raised.

If that is original with you, you should start writing your first book now.

Houses are far more than the materials that they are made from...a shelter and sanctuary to make memories for a lifetime.

Mike,

This is without a doubt the truest definition of home. It reminds me of when I was younger, all the sweet/joyful memories I always had as a kid. Thanks for giving us such a phenomenal Blog post. Definitely going to suggest this!

My mom and dad always said that home is where the heart is.  I think that's still true for the most part.  Unfortunately, some people have tried to make home into a cash machine.

This is nice; it is a great sentiment.  I had to smile at Jim's comment-

- some people have tried to make home into a cash machine.

Sad, But True!
