BIG SCREEN CLASSICS AT THE LAFAYETTE THEATRE, Suffern NY

Lafayette Theatre Suffern NY

The Big Screen Classics film series sponsored by The Town of Ramapo, has returned to the Lafayette Theatre in Suffern NY.  You've missed the September 17 (The Guns of Navarone) and the September 24 (Dodsworth) showings, but it's not to late to catch the rest of the series. There's a great lineup of classic films planned.

Lafayette Theater is a beautiful old-time movie palace that was built in the late '20s. It's unique in that it contains a fully functioning Wurlitzer organ. For those of you that plan to attend any of the Big Screen Classic shows, you're in for a treat. At each of the showings you'll have the opportunity to hear an organ music recital by Jeff Baker on "the mighty wurlitzer" if you get there a half hour early (at 11:00 AM).

The Big Screen Classics scheduled to be shown for the remainder of the season are:

October 1 -Wuthering Heights

October 8 - State of the Union

October 15 - Written on the Wind

October 29 - The Uninvited

November 5 - Bye Bye Birdie

November 12 - ELmer Gantry

November 19 - Winchester '73

November 26 - The Wizard of Oz

December 3 - Bringing Up Baby

December 10 - The Bells of St. Mary's

December 17 - It's a Wonderful Life

What a super choice of films and what a great venue for them!

THE LAFAYETTE THEATRE is located at 97 LAFAYETTE AVENUE, SUFFERN, NY 10901; 845-369-8234

SHOWTIME: Saturday mornings at 11:30 AM from October 1 to December 17, 2010

Special Ticket Price for these shows - $7.00

Doors open at 11 for pre-show organ music by Jeff Barker on the Mighty Wurlitzer!

Leah -- What a totally COOL place the Lafayette Theatre is!  It's like mini Radio City with the Wurlitzer!  Just listening to that music makes me want to go.  Also can't beat the $7 admission price.  Great lineup of films. Enjoy!

Barbara - The parking is easier than Radio City and the prices are way better too.  You might want to go.

That is an interesting line up, Leah.  Looks like the Classic Movie Channel.  But, it should be fun watching the golden oldies in a theater.

Joni, I love some of these oldies, but goodies and that's one of my favorites as well.

Don,  whether from my home or the theatre, I love the golden oldies.
