It Makes My Heart Happy! As I flew over the snow-capped Siskiyou Mountains this morning, I was awestruck by the natural beauty of the landscape. Life takes a different shape from 30,000 feet, and it's simply magical. Perhaps it's my renewed spirit...
I've been vacationing in Colorado and Los Angeles for the past 2-weeks and I'm feeling re-energized. There's something quite rejuvenating about chilling with friends and family without a care in the world. No place to be, no deadlines to meet, no cranky demands... just me and my cup of joe... sipping in the world at a slower pace. I love it when that happens!
My best friend and I hung out in Breckenridge Colorado last week... a charming mountain town with eclectic shops, great restaurants and gorgeous scenery. It's one of my favorite places to visit on the west coast. The two of us walked several miles as we chatted up a storm, never running out of things to say. In the course of our conversation, my friend told me something that surprised me. She said...
'When I was 16 and you were 15, I saw you standing next to your locker at school and I watched you as you were smiling and laughing... and I said to myself, I want to be friends with that girl... she looks so happy!'
It's true, happiness exudes me... and I have my sweet mother to thank for that. No matter what kind of crappy day she was having (and there were a lot of them... she had MS for 33 years), she smiled all the time, which left an imprint on my brain. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her... which makes my heart happy.
It was a gorgeous day in Breckenridge Colorado. While my friend and I drove down the mountain, we listened to Dennis Prager's radio show called, 'The Happiness Hour.' How apropos! We laughed all the way to the Mile High City... and the funny thing is... we weren't high on anything but sunshine and happiness ;) There's something special about friendship... It Makes My Heart Happy!
P.S. I even got a chance to meet fellow Active Rainers, Mimi Foster & Rebekah Radice for lunch in Colorado Springs! Both are fabulous women and real sweeties!
