What does God owe you?

What do you want from God?  Life?  health?  a job?  mortgage paid?  car fixed?  children to behave?  husband to treat you better?  wife to stop complaining?  When tragedy happens, we are down on our knees praying.

We're closest to God when we NEED him. Maybe that's why we go through trials, to keep us close to Him? Otherwise we get complacent.

Often we use God as a "window shade", we pull him down when we need Him, and then roll Him back up and forget about him when life's going okay.

It's our typical American ENTITLEMENT mindset.  Somehow, we are "owed" something.  We "deserve" it, if you listen to the TV commercials.  Our selfish ego takes over...  It's all about ME, Me, me.

So, what DOES God owe you?  And me?

Life is not promised.  It's a gift.  And we should be grateful for every moment.

Grace is available but must be received and accepted.  We're certainly not entitled to it.

God owes us nothing.

Every day is a gift.  Life is precious -- don't take it for granted.

Regina, I Love this Blog post. You are absolutely correct in everything you stated in this. If we all get closer to God and stay there not just when we need him we would all be okay.. Great job!

Excellent! I am also very glad that what we deserve and what we get don't match!

Grace, mercy and favor along with peace... How do you beat that? You DONT!

Hi Regina...this is an interesting post; while I won't get into the scriptural bases of your comments I do want to highlight a paragraph viz: " It's our typical American ENTITLEMENT mindset.  Somehow, we are "owed" something.  We "deserve" it, if you listen to the TV commercials.  Our selfish ego takes over...  It's all about ME, Me, me"; Please be assured that the US (I know your comments are nationalistically focused) has not cornered the market with this attitude; it is in fact a global, imperfect-human disposition...so that's everybody (to one degree or another) - the Bahamas is generally considered a "religious nation' but the attitudes you refer to are equally prevalent here.

As I said - I think this is an interesting post and I commend you for sharing your views. Thank you.
