Sorry, I don't meet strangers at property!
Safety is a number one priority, as so many of us know of situations where our co-realtors have faced unpleasant circumstances.
This bears repeating.
When I receive a call/email --- there are two basic questions: are you working with a realtor, and more importantly, are you already preapproved (and if so, how may I get contact your lender).
Glad to see others who feel the same way and who stick to their guns. If you're the same way, let Michelle know and give her an attaboy. Comments are disabled on this post so you can visit Michelle's blog.
Thanks!
Sorry, I don't meet strangers at property!
This morning I received a call from a cash buyer who was standing outside of a property and wanted to see now. I explained prior to showing any property I will need proof of funds and after I verify those proofs of funds we can schedule an appointment.
Mr. Casher Buyer's response: "how about you show me the property, then I'll show you proof of funds."
We spoke for a few more minutes and he just wasn't listening, so I wished him the best of luck and hung up.
I don't care if a buyer is spending $100,000 or 1 million I will never ever meet a stranger at a property without receiving proof of funds first.
How do I know who I'm meeting? Maybe I've watched one too many Forensic Files episodes, but my safety comes first, not a paycheck. Plus, I'm not going to give a complete stranger access to a sellers home.
