Localism questions... maybe others are wondering too?

I have been posting on Localism over the last several months, but have trouble finding my posts and wonder what it takes to make a post rank at the top of the section? Is ranking connected to number of times the post is viewed?

Also, for those of us who don't quite know how to navigate on Localism can anyone tell me what the best way to learn more about posting on localism and generally about localism? It seems the best way to get exposure is to post my listings on the PA page and to skip posting it down to the city level... anyone agree?

Thanks for any help! Jill

Jill,

I just started posting to lacalism about a month ago. I post everything there is about the community and also do market conditions. I like to narrow it down as low as I can go to the exact area. I would also recommend getting your own blog off of your web site and puting your posts there as well. Remember it's your content and it can drive traffic and bring you up in the ranks to get noticed and called.

Here's a 2 samples of of my localism -

I think as more and more people use localism it will climb the ranks in a big way and the more content you have there the better you will do.

I've wondered the same thing. My guess would be Viewed statistic but I really don't know. I hope an answer emerges.

Mike - thanks for sharing. I do have a blog off of my website which I think helps.. although no one comments on any blogs there. I just wonder if people can find our posts if we put them so deep into an area? What do you think? I agree that Localism will likely grow, as the membership at SR has grown. Hopefully it will generate some buisness someday!

Andrew- Me too!

Jill,

What PA County are they under?

Like your blog and your site - this should really get you up in the searches with a little time.

Localism is kind of a mystery to me too.

My strategy is to start right in my immediate neighborhoods and branch out from there.  If there are gaps, fill them in.  You can even start new neighborhoods.... add pictures and content... be the only one.  If your area is already filled , I guess you could try to create a niche neighborhood and go with that.

Posting pictures helps a lot, it gets your name out there, and more keywords.  I think they are ranked by date, so keep adding new ones.

Market news is always good content too... what's selling on your street?

Aloha

Great post by the way. I make sure to label all of my posts starting with Raleigh Real Estate -- Subject.

It seems to work I also narrow it down as far as possible to the neighborhood level or to the city.

Also I heard that local rainers are overseeing Localism I don't know if this is true, but it is a disturbing thought.

Georgia- Very helpful to read your thoughts and approach to localism. Nice way to start, with our neighborhood. I have been doing monthly market updates and posting listings but thats about it. Gotta bring that camera with me! Thanks

Rebecca- I like your idea to start wtih the same label through all of your posts. This should help with rankings? I just wonder if anyone is finding the localism post from searches. I am suprised about localism beign monitored by local people, sounds like DMOZ, they use locals and are considered very reputable. Thanks for reading and posting.
