Frolicking Fighting Bear Cubs in Yosemite
by Michelle Carr Crowe
This YouTube video of frolicking, fighting bear cubs right on the roadway in Yosemite is so cute . (I am pretty sure that music was added afterwards.) I have got to get to Yosemite for a visit sometime soon.
I find it interesting that the Mama Bear nonchalantly keeps eating while these two bear cubs keep fighting away...right between two cars on the paved road. Apparently she must feel comfortable this is "her territory" rather than human territory.

I have some scary (at least to us) bear stories from Yosemite - let's just say there's a reason we only go to Yosemite during their hibernation season!
If you are new to California, visiting Yosemite is a must. If possible, go during the off seasons (fall or spring) when there are fewer crowds and you are more likely to see wildlife.
Even if you can't afford to stay at the Ahwahnee Hotel, one of several California Historical Landmarks, you should visit it. The lobby is open and visitors can enjoy viewing the massive timbers while playing cards or sipping on tea.
Brunch on Saturday and Sunday is sumptuous and beautiful (and the best value for an Ahwahnee experience if you can't afford to stay overnight at the hotel). You dine while viewing nature - often the deer come and graze on the lawns - and on clear days you can see some of the famous Yosemite landmarks.
