Austin Job Market A recent report by Manpower Employment Outlook Survey showed that employers in the Austin area plan to have higher levels of hiring this fall. The housing market in the Austin area continues to remain among the best in the country. The list of U.S. cities with the most healthy employment outlooks ranked Austin as fifth. The state of Texas as a whole ranked as third best in the country. The survey serves as an indicator as to what to expect when it comes to hiring in the next quarter of the year.

The survey also showed that 71 percent of companies will not be changing their number of employees, 19 percent plan to increase their number of employees, and 8 percent will make cuts to the number of employees they have. Job prospects appear to be the strongest in financial activities, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, government, and professional and business services. Those in the transportation and utility field plan to make reductions in their workforce. “Employers are hesitant to make big decisions when it comes to hiring in the fourth quarter,” said Jonas Prising, ManpowerGroup president of the Americas.
