Owning your own home is not about a price tag or a market. Owning your own home is about the life you lived and the place where memories live on forever. -- funny I was just discussing this with one of my sellers. Even whe folks decide it is time to sell, there are a lot of emotional ties as well.
I'm on my 8th house and I believe "home" is wherever you live as long as you do what you can to make it comfortable.
I've not been emotionally attached to any of my houses when I bought them, which is why I made money in real estate, working my way up from one house to the next.
Grandma's house should give most buyer's a warm feeling and a feeling of home, nice story.
The picture in the post is my Grandmothers house. I took it when the house hit the market again in 2008. If I had had the means I would have bought it.
There are people who buy properties for investments sake, I do. But a home is not just a monetary investment to me. I am upside down by about $80,000 right now in my current home and I don't even think about it. In a few short years I will have plenty of equity. For now I just enjoy making memories.
Hi Dinah,
Thanks for sharing your special story. Owning a home also represents a major accomplishment as well. Most people work all their lives to purchase a home. Their dream home, where dreams will be fulfilled and memories built.
Keep up the good work!
It is a major accomplishment! I love selling first homes. They mean so much to the owners and they seem so excited for all of the possibilities!
For my grandkids, our home was theirs and they grew up saying, Grams if you ever sell this home, I want to live there. I know what you mean, a home is more than just a house.
Mary- Houses becoming homes is one of the main reasons I became a Realtor. It is one of the best parts of the job!
Home is where unity and an atmosphere of peace resides. Be it a mansion or an apartment.
Dinah, home is a special place where memories are made. Looks like you have done a great job of continuing your grandmothers memories!
Dee- I agree! When the economy turned we almost lost our house but we could never have lost our home and the memories we shared together.
Andrea- There is nothing like home. I can't tell you how many bad days I had that just melted off my shoulders the moment I crossed the doorway.
