The performance by the Chinese Opera Orchestra of Shanghai tonight was exhilarating. This event is just an example of the incredible acts that The Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee brings to our area. Everything was so vivid, vibrant and rich in the music and presentation tonight that driving home I just reflected that our community is enriched by the presence of this university.

Hi Mona: Universities can be the cultural center of their communities. My son attended Elon's music theater program about 10-12 years ago, just as the school was becoming a university. I am amazed at how the Burlington community supported every production. Musicals, Shakespeare, straight plays, even workshops, there were always local residents supporting and enjoying the arts.

The Chinese Opera Orchestra sounds like a wonderful event, Mona! I'm a bit intimidated by 'opera' itself, but the music would be just great - wonderful that the university is able to attract these types of performers!
Hi Karen, there was very little opera singing so it was difficult to be intimidated. The little 8 year old boy in front of us struggled to stay awake though lol.
